Tips for the Frames of Your Futons
December 11, 2008The futons are not only designed for sitting purposes but for sleeping. This is an ideal piece of your furniture in your home if you have an unexpected visitor and you have no room to accommodate him or her. If you have plans of buying one, make sure that you choose the kind of futon that is easily converter and with the following mechanisms:
• Kicker- this is a system where a small piece of wood or plastic that locks itself in between the seat racks and back. As a result, the futon frame is changed from a sleeper to a sofa in a matter of seconds. Simply pull or push the seat back to 90 degree angle. The back can lay flat once the kicker is locked.
• Ratchet or click-clack- European in design, this mechanism easily converts from sitting, to reclining, and to sleeping back again.
• Sliding or moving pivot point- it is primarily used on wall-hugger futons. This design enables the futon to be converted from sofa to sleeper. This will not need you to move the frame away from the way.
